Summer nights with the stars season history since 2010

2017 SUMMER NIGHTS WITH THE STARS SEASON

The Songs & Stories of Neil Diamond Starring Jack Wright

To kick-off the 2017 season, we welcome the homecoming of former Utahan. He’s here to celebrate the songs and life of the legendary Neil Diamond.

David Archuleta*

He’s practically part of the family by now…for the third year in a row we’ll welcome David Archuleta to Layton! David became a star when he was just 16.

Peter Cetera*

“The Next Time I Fall,” “Glory of Love,” “You’re the Inspiration,” just a few of this legend’s biggest hits. Peter Cetera sang lead for CHICAGO for many years and as a solo artist remains pop/rock royalty.

Ann Wilson of HEART*

Yes…THAT Ann Wilson of THAT HEART! All of the songs that make up the essence of Ann Wilson, songs that have influenced her life, her own hit singles, and your favorites of HEART!

Ambrosia

In the year 1970, four young musicians from the South Bay of Los Angeles came together to create a new style of music. Ambrosia is a five-time GRAMMY-nominated hit-maker.

Kathy Mattea

Are you ready for the Acoustic Living Room? What began as an experiment– trying out a wide range of new songs and styles with a fresh approach to singing– has become a successful full-blown tour, bringing Kathy’s music to lots of new fans in intimate venues across the country.

Chris Isaak*

Get ready for a SHOW! Chris Isaak is known as one of the most versitile and engaging live performers touring today. He is renowned for his signature 1950s rock ‘n’ roll style and crooner sound, as well as his soaring falsetto and reverb-laden music.

Nathan Pacheco

Who is this guy? A familiar question on December 9th and 10th as he opened for David Archuleta’s soaring Christmas stop in Layton. A question no more, Nathan Pacheco slayed Davis Arts Council’s audience with his soaring tenor and easy-going-yet-exciting stage presence. Not to be missed!

Stephen Bishop

If, like our Executive Director, you love 80s movies, you will no doubt know the songs of Stephen Bishop. Not only did he write the title song for TOOTSIE, but “It Might Be You” scored Stephen an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

The Stray Cat Lee Rocker

Lee Rocker and the Stray Cats sold more than 10 million records, garnered an astounding 23 gold and platinum records worldwide, and were music video pioneers of the MTV. The Stray Cat’s worldwide mega hits “Stray Cat Strut”, “Sexy and Seventeen” and “Rock this Town” have become a part of the fabric of rock and roll.

Idina Menzel**

The incredible voice behind smash hit “Let It Go” and the star of FROZEN, WICKED, RENT and GLEE, Idina Menzel stops in Utah for one night only during her 2017 World Tour.

The Drifters

The Drifter’s 2016 performance was the most requested command-return engagement of the season. We live to serve! Here they are, back again to sing, dance, and take us “Up On The Roof” to “Under The Boardwalk” to “On Broadway.”

Steep Canyon Rangers

Known for their collaborations with actor/comedian and respected banjo player Steve Martin and esteemed singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, it’s time for some Bluegrass the way it was meant to be played (or better)!

YES Featuring Jon Anderson | Trevor Rabin | Rick Wakeman*

We’re making a habit of it! Last season’s Rock and Roll Hall-of-Fame inductee, Chicago, stopped by The Kenley for a post-induction concert not to be rivaled. Except maybe by the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall-of-Fame Inductees YES featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman! Get ready to for some more Hall-of-Fame rock.

TOTO and Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo**

The first show in “Summer Nights with the Stars” history to start at 7pm. For good reason: 2 full shows! 1 Ticket! 1 night only! Labor Day in Layton is a night to “bless the rains down in Africa” and for “running with the shadows of the night.” TOTO. Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Enough said.

Rhythmic Circus: Feet Don’t Fail Me Now

One very late night in early September of 2009 at an arts conference in Phoenix, AZ, DAC Executive Director, Kirt Bateman, walked unwittingly into a show case…not to scout out new talent but simply because he’s a fan of tap dancing. 20 minutes later, he had already begun negotiations for the group that hailed from Minnesota to come to The Kenley. Now eight seasons later, welcome RHYTHMIC CIRCUS back for a 3rd command performance!

Hotel California

September 16 is not only the closing of 2017’s summer season but it’s also Hill Air Force Base Appreciation Night, a Davis Arts tradition for more than a decade, and the group on hand to take us out, none other than Hotel California, saluting the music of The Eagles.
