We are excited to bring spotlight local talent in our “Show Layton Your Talent” season opener! Last year the audience and judges were blown away by the fantastic performances. Over 70 artists auditioned for a coveted spot in the Top 15. The 2009 winner, Jane Bruce of Ogden, is now attending the University of Michigan and their prestigious Musical Theater program. Check out photos from last year’s show below.
No variety show is complete without a talented and witty Master of Ceremonies. We are excited to welome last year’s runner-up Mark Saal to host the evening’s event. Mark is the assistant features editor and humor columnist for the Standard-Examiner in Ogden, Utah. He has worked at the newspaper since 1985, where his writings have earned him a number of awards (zero is a number, right?). A native of Portland, Ore., Mark is a 1984 graduate of the University of Utah and served an LDS mission to Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee — where he quickly learned that famed Southern hospitality only goes so far. He and his wife, Rugan, currently live in Farmington, Utah. They have three children, 1.5 grandchildren and a very angry cat.
Come listen to the top contestants perform in this ultimate talent show! They will have to impress our panel of judges and YOU in order to take home the grand prize of $1,000.
