Position Title: Director of Development

Salary: $60,000-$70,000 per year DOE

Status: Full-time exempt

 

Description: The Director of Development (DOD) is responsible for leading Davis Arts Council’s (DAC) fundraising efforts. The DOD oversees corporate giving and sponsorships, major gifts, individual giving and the annual campaign, grant writing, community development, and every other aspect of DAC’s fundraising. This position is part of a very small staff and will often require “wearing many hats” to accomplish the organization’s mission.

 

Responsibilities

  • Evening and weekend work is required to support DAC-sponsored events
  • Sponsors and Corporate Giving
    • Develop and steward personal relationships with representatives from existing corporate sponsors
    • Identify and cultivate potential new sponsors and solicit donations
  • Major Gifts
    • Develop strategies to meet annual fundraising goals and major gift giving
  • Individual Giving and Annual Campaign
    • Grow Leadership Donor program and individual giving
    • Serve as year-round point of contact and consultant for donors
  • Grants and Foundations
    • Research and write grant applications
    • Track grant submittals
    • Identify and develop relationships with grantmaking organizations and family foundations
  • Community Engagement
    • Represent DAC in community groups such as the Chamber of Commerce and Davis County’s Tourism board.
    • Attend community events throughout Layton and Davis County to build authentic connections within the community
    • Oversee fundraising events, such as bi-annual fundraising breakfast, etc.
    • Develop, plan, and oversee new fundraising events
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)/Database Management
    • Proficient with CRM to input donations and track donor information in CRM/database management software
    • Utilize CRM to augment annual campaign and other ongoing fundraising efforts
  • Other duties, as necessary
    • Includes acting as staff member on duty for DAC programming (along with other office staff)

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in fundraising, with a demonstrated history of success securing sponsorships, donations, and grants
  • Excellent people skills; able to form connections easily with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organization abilities
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Ability to sit or stand and use computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with capital campaigns
  • Background in planned giving
  • Proficiency with researching and writing grants
  • Deeply connected to and knowledgeable of the Davis County and Layton City communities
