How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind: Dealing with Your House’s Dirty Little Secrets by Dana K. White

No matter how hard I try, I feel like I can never keep my house neat and tidy. I have read books, bought storage containers, and spent countless hours trying to “fix it.” But while other books teach a “system” that promises to cure everything, this book gets right down to the root of the issue: my house is messy because I made it messy, and the only way to fix it is to clean it up. There are a lot of simple, radical insights in this book that might be common knowledge for some people but for author Dana White (and for me!) it takes some serious self-reckoning to get to the end goal: a (mostly) clean house. Part self-help, part how-to, this book walks the reader through a process of creating a well-managed home (and keeping it that way) that anyone can follow, even me.

This is televised on Netflix and sometimes on PBS. This show is done in England. I love that the contestants are extremely kind to each other even though they are competing. It always puts a smile on my face.

OK Orchestra by AJR

If you aren’t familiar with the indie-pop band AJR – made up of brothers Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met – their fourth studio album, released on March 26, is a great way to get to know them. The brothers record and produce all their own music from their living room and are best known for their unique use of instrumentals, lush production, and vulnerable songwriting. I like to listen to their albums beginning to end like reading a book by starting with track 1 and going until the end (and then usually pressing play again once the album is over). Good headphones or surround sound will make it an even more amazing experience!
