Featured artists will be pianist Marshall McDonald and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson, recording artists, composers, arrangers and co-founders of Maywood Music, a sheet music publishing company.

A full-time seminary teacher for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marshall considers music “a serious hobby.” His most recent albums include “Sunday Morning Light,” “His Light Divine” and “I Am a Child of God,” the latter inspired by the artwork of Greg Olson. One listener from Iowa describes Marshall’s music as “goosebumps music.” He has eight full-length albums, four film scores and two symphonies to his credit.

Steven, who has been deemed “the best cellist in Utah” by FM-100, wrote his first composition — for percussion ensemble — before he could even read music. Today, his ability and style stretch across all genres of music — most aptly in classical, cultural, folk, and improvisational music, cello, voice, guitar and percussion.

Marshall and Steven collaborated on a recent symphonic piece, “The Spanish Trail Suite,” commissioned by the Orchestra of Southern Utah in honor of the historic trail being honored by the U.S. Congress.
