JR Johansen lives in Huntsville, Utah. He graduated from BYU and Weber State University with degrees in Commercial Art and Graphic Design and Illustration. He is a self taught’ Pastelist’ who began painting commissioned portraits in 1978.
He has painted over 600 portraits – many of them of children who have passed away. The childrens’ portraits were donated to the family. Chalk pastels never fade, crack, or turn yellow. “Every human being is one of God’s masterpieces and I enjoy copying it with pastels on canvas so they can be seen and remembered forever”.
