Natalie Rhees Shupe was born and raised in the Ogden area. She graduated from Utah State University with a BFA in Art Education, with an emphasis in painting. With most of her children grown, she has had the opportunity to renew her love of painting in several workshops with John Poon, John Hughes, and Kathryn Stats. She also enjoys joining in Plein Air events around the region. The landscape is her preferred subject and oils are her medium. Outside has always been her favorite place to be. She discovered a quote by Elizabeth Barrett Browning; “Earth is crammed with heaven and every common bush afire with God, but only he who sees, takes off his shoes.” Her paintings are her vision of the glory she sees all around us.
