Pizzicato Strings & Company is a youth violin group from Ogden under the direction of violinist/master teacher Peggy B. Wheelwright. In addition to the weekly performance class, the youth attend lessons where an extensive classical repertoire is learned. This year’s program will “celebrate America” with well-loved classics including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” a Beach Boys medley, Disco Fever, fiddle tunes, and an armed forces salute.
These talented string players have been featured artists at the Children’s Arts Festival in Taiwan, the Festival of States in Washington D.C., and Magic Music Days at Disneyland. Local performances include pre-shows for the Utah Symphony and Ballet West. The group has been selected to perform at the Utah Arts Festival for 12 consecutive years and has recorded three CDs.
