Russian music will feature the “Concerto in E Flat for Alto Saxophone” by Alexander Glazunov played by local band teacher Bradley Shafer. Brad is in his 10th year of teaching at North Layton Junior High and holds a Master of Arts degree in music from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He plays oboe, English horn, baritone horn, and clarinet and has performed with the Salt Lake Symphonic Winds, The Salt Lake Symphony and soloed at the American Saxophone Alliance Regional Convention. He received the Teacher Hall of Fame award for the 2010-11 school year. Bradley lives in Layton with his wife, Celena, and four energetic boys.

The Wasatch Chamber Music Society musicians will perform Tchaikovsky’s passionate “Piano Trio in A Minor” and soprano Martha Gutierrez will sing soul-stirring art songs by the famed Russian composer. Rachmaninoff’s haunting “Vocalise” will be sung by Layton soprano, Melissa Stettler. Elaine Witte, cellist and Kelsie Call, piano will perform Shostakovich’s “Cello Sonata.”
